Eisenhower Chapel
The historic Eisenhower Chapel stands as a link between the Lowry’s historic district and the hustle and bustle of the Lowry Town Center.
Originally one of four nearly identical chapels on the Lowry Air Force Base, Chapel No.1 is the last remaining. The building earned its name when President Dwight D. Eisenhower and First Lady Mamie Eisenhower became frequent worshippers at the chapel in the 1950’s when the President directed international affairs from his “Summer White House” on the Lowry Air Force Base. It remained an active church until 1994 when the Lowry Air Force Base closed. In 2005, the Lowry Foundation launched a campaign to restore and reopen the chapel after nearly a decade of disuse. Funds for restoration came from the Colorado State Historic Fund Grant matching funds from the Lowry Redevelopment Authority and the Lowry Foundation. About $20,000 came directly from members of the Lowry community.
The chapel serves as a community gathering space for Lowry residents, schools and business. The chapel is also available for weddings and special events. Contact the Lowry Foundation at foundation@lowry.org to book an event.

Recreation
In addition to the recreation and open space in and around EastPark, Lowry boasts nearly 800 acres of parks and recreational areas. That size is equal to 20 percent of all park space in Denver today. All Lowry parks are being built responsibly, with 35 percent of the total acreage devoted to native plants and grasses, and less than half slated for sod, all of which includes low water grass varieties.
Other recreational opportunities at Lowry include 24 Hour Fitness, Montclair Recreation Center and Lowry Swim Club.
