Objectives
The objectives for the
Buckley Annex redevelopment planning effort are:
- Engage the community
to determine their desires, needs, and expectations for
the redevelopment. The plan should incorporate the best
community and urban design standards to compliment and enhance
the surrounding area.
- Create opportunities
to replace the lost jobs.
- Expand the local tax
base.
- Fill any voids in
neighborhood, local and regional community facilities and
service needs including: recreation and open space, arts
and culture, housing and education.
- Capitalize on site
attributes and assets.
- Identify and plan
for potential impacts on existing adjacent and nearby neighborhoods
and businesses.
- Understand and mitigate
site liabilities.
- Align land uses with
environmental conditions to the extent possible.
- Provide for an integrated
mix of uses.
- Base the plan on a
sound understanding of economic and market conditions in
the local and regional economy.
- Promote the health
and vitality of the local environment.
- Develop guidance for
phased development.
- Create design guidelines
and entitlement strategies to ensure long term compliance
with the development plan.
- Maximize the utility
and value of the property.
