The Lowry Dog Park is open! Located at Lowry Blvd & Yosemite Way, the open areas include the west (high energy dogs) and middle (low energy dogs) sections. The east section (future agility area) and the south portions (closest to the dam) of both the west and middle areas are fenced off with snow-fence until the grass is established, about two years from now.
Parking is off of Sports Blvd, behind Big Bear Ice Arena. The paths may be difficult to find because of the snow, but are borderd by signs, benches and trash bins. The park features shade structures, benches, trees, recycled fire hydrants and lots of open space for running and playing.
Dog Park rules are posted just outside the park - please remember:
1. Clean-up after your dog(s). This is not a Denver Parks duty.
2. Take spare shopping bags out to restock the voluntary poop bag dispensers.
3. Follow the posted rules.
4. Keep dogs leashed outside of the dogpark.
5. Stay on the paths. Stay off all the vast, newly-seeded, native grass lands in the open space areas until it isfully established, which takes 2 to 3 years.
6. For their safety, children under the age of 12 are not permitted inside the dog park. Children aged 12-17 must be accompanied by an adult.
