Art
Public art creates energy and value in urban areas and is
becoming integral to revitalization efforts. Public art sites
are scattered throughout Lowry, including several pieces in
the Town Center District.
Aviation & Space Center of the Rockies
In an old Air Force hangar in the Town Center District, the
Aviation & Space Center of the Rockies is designed to educate
young and old alike with a unique collection of historic aircraft
and exhibits, workshops, children's program, and a library
and photographic archives. Call 303-360-5360 for information.
Eisenhower
Chapel
In the Town Center District, the chapel is on the National
Register of Historic Places and is a designated Denver landmark.
will restore the historic building, where
President Eisenhower worshipped while at the Lowry Air Force
Base. After restoration, the chapel will be open to the community
as a town hall, used for arts and cultural activities including
performances, lectures and art exhibits, weddings, funerals,
special ceremonies, retreats and other events.
John
Hand Theater
The newly renovated John Hand Theater, 7653 E. 1st Place,
is Lowry's own community theater, located in the Town Center
District. It seats 120 people.
Schlessman
Family Library
At the northwest corner of First Avenue and Quebec Street,
the 15,000-square-foot library is one of the largest branches
in the Denver Public Library system. It is also one of the
most high-tech, with 40 computers available for public use
and a full collection of DVDs, videotapes and books on tape.
